About Allegra

Allegra Festival and Academy

We created this exceptional musical project, Allegra Festival and Academy in 2014 with great hopes and dreams for it to become what it is today—a modern international forum that successfully brings to Sofia soloists from the world’s classical music scene. Allegra embodies a musical adventure and delight for the senses for all classical music enthusiasts, raising the bar for talent and good taste higher each year with its ambitious and rich program. For us Allegra is not just a recurring event - it is a true challenge, bringing together leading professionals, both inspiring and respected, into the extraordinary world of classical music. The audience can enjoy intriguing highlights and unusual stage pairings that captivate both music lovers and those drawn to the quality and power of classical music, encouraging them to save ten days in July, when Sofia, vibrant and colourful, resonates with the timelessness of classical music. Allegra proudly stands on the global festival scene, bringing something very special to the experience called music.

Petar Naydenov

Founder and artistic director of Allegra Festiival and Academy

My professional path as a musician gives me the opportunity to perform on some of the most prestigious stages and festivals and to work with great and even greater musicians. For a long time these encounters and experiences ignited in me the desire to one day create a festival in Bulgaria that would become a cultural event with international impact. In 2014, Allegra took its first tentative steps. And now, ten years later, looking back, I can’t hide my happiness that over a thousand guests from more than 30 countries came to Bulgaria because of Allegra, and gifted our audience with tens of concerts. We have had the honour to welcome members of orchestras like the Berlin, Vienna, and Munich Philharmonics, professors from leading European academies, and soloists with impressive careers. This festival is my dream come true, and it is dedicated to you—our audience.

Maria Naydenova-Abrasheva

Administrative director and “driving force” of Allegra Festiival and Academy

There was no way I could resist the Allegra magic lovingly created by my brother in 2014, so two years later I joined him. We were born into a family of musicians, our parents were teachers at the Music School in Rousse and music has always been a huge part of my life. I studied chemistry at the Math School, graduated in law at Sofia University, worked as a lawyer for many years, but I turned out to be another proof that the apple does not fall far from the tree. For me Allegra is family! I am happy that every year it grows and gives me the opportunity to meet outstanding musicians, be part of amazing concerts and support wonderful and talented young musicians - future stars of the classical scene.
