Stoimen Peev (b. 1988) won his first competitions as a student at the National School of Arts in Varna, in the class of Antoaneta Ilieva. His early successes include awards from the “Svetoslav Obretenov” competition in Provadia, “Nedyalka Simeonova” in Haskovo, and “Dobri Hristov” in Varna, as well as a performance in the program of Konzerthaus Vienna.
He completed his higher education at the National Academy of Music “Prof. Pancho Vladigerov” under Prof. Ginka Gichkova. During his studies, he became a laureate of numerous academic and international competitions, including “Pancho Vladigerov” (Shumen) and “Emil Kamilarov” (Sofia).
Since 2011, Stoimen Peev has been a violinist with the Sofia Soloists Chamber Ensemble. As a soloist with the ensemble, he has performed several world premieres of contemporary works. He has numerous recordings for the Bulgarian National Radio (BNR) with orchestra or piano accompaniment, including premieres and frequent broadcasts on the Bulgarian National Television (BNT). He has performed as a soloist with many orchestras in Bulgaria and abroad. In November 2015, he performed Tchaikovsky’s Violin Concerto at the Tokyo Metropolitan Art Space under the baton of Maestro Mitsuyoshi Oikawa.
From 2014 to 2022, he served as the first violinist of the Sofia Quartet at the Sofia Philharmonic. In 2022, he earned his PhD from the National Academy of Music “Prof. Pancho Vladigerov,” and since 2023, he has been a Chief Assistant Professor in the String Instruments Department.
Since 2023, he has been a guest soloist at the Sofia National Opera and Ballet in the production of “Anna Karenina,” performing Tchaikovsky’s Violin Concerto over 24 times. He also performs with the Akademika Piano Trio and the Art & Shock String Quartet, both of which were nominated for bulgarian “Ensemble of the Year” in 2024 and 2025, respectively. Individually, Stoimen Peev was nominated for the bulgarian “Musician of the Year” award in 2024.
