Sebastian Eyb, born 1986 in Vienna started playing violin at the age of five with Eugenia Polatschek in the Vienna Conservatory. 2004 he became Concertmaster of the Gardemusik and switched in the same year from violin to viola to Prof. Klaus Peisteiner.
From 2010 he studied with Gilad Karni in the Conservatoire de Lausanne in the course Master specialicè au soliste and had further lessons with Julian Rachlin. As Soliost he played with Orchstras like the Symphonieorchester des MDR, mitteldeutschen Kammerphilharmonie, Orchestre Chambre de Lausanne and Slovakian Philharmonic.
As a sought after chambermusician he played with Thomas Selditz, Ernst Kovacic und Franz Bartolomey, Viktoria Mullova, Gèrard Causse, Alois Posch, Alain Altinoglu, Bejun Metha , Sol Gabeta and as a member of the Piano Qunitett Vienna since 2022.
With 20 years he was employed as Principal Viola at the West Australian Symphony Orchestra and a year later as Guest Principal in Hong Kong Philharmonic. Since 2009 he is a member of the Zürich Opera in Switzerland as co Solo. Since 2018 in the same Position at Bayreuth Festival Orchestra.
2013 he won 1st Price in the international Competition Svirèl for string soloists and a special award given by the jury.
