Xiaoming competes with great success in Beijing in 1998 where he wins first prize at the Mi-Do International Violin Competition. The following year, he also wins first prize at the Stephanie Hohl Violin Competition in Vienna and receives a special award from the Leopold Mozart International Violin Competition in Augsburg.
These awards enable him to perform as a soloist with orchestras such as the Zurich Philharmonia, the Poznan Philharmonic, the Belgrade Philharmonic, the Vienna Webern Symphony, the China NCPA Orchestra, and the Guiyang Symphony. His concerts have taken him across Asia, the USA, Australia, South America, and throughout Europe. He regularly appears as a soloist and chamber musician on major stages worldwide such as Lincoln Center in New York, Vienna Konzerthaus, Vienna Musikverein, Wigmore Hall in London, Kioi Hall in Tokyo, China NCPA, Seoul Arts Center, Shanghai Symphony Concert Hall, and Sydney Opera House. He has also performed at important festivals including the Verbier Music Festival, the Lucerne Music Festival, the Rheingau Music Festival, the Schleswig-Holstein Music Festival, the Kissinger Summer Festival, the Macau Music Festival, and the China NCPA May Festival.
Xiaoming currently serves as the concertmaster of the Zurich Philharmonia. He has previously been concertmaster of the Verbier Festival Orchestra and regularly appears as a guest concertmaster with the German Radio Philharmonic, the Hamburg Philharmonic, the Lucerne Symphony Orchestra, the Bern Symphony Orchestra, the China NCPA Orchestra, and the Singapore Symphony Orchestra. He has collaborated with renowned conductors such as Lorin Maazel, Christoph Eschenbach, Zubin Mehta, Bernard Haitink, Daniele Gatti, Gustavo Dudamel, Myung-whun Chung, and Valery Gergiev.
He has a great passion for developing young talent. In 2018, he founded the Ming Classics Festival and Academy in Switzerland. He has been teaching at the Zurich Conservatory since 2023.
